I have a spreadsheet that I want to save on several different harddrives. I see that there is only "save" as an option. Why is there only "save" and not the usual "save as" option? How do you save the copy on several drives and in different folders?

Your profile indicates that you are using OS X 10.6.7. Is that correct? If so, you should have Save As in the file menu. It disappeared in 10.7. It reappeared in 10.8.

Jerry, I am now using OSX 10.8.2 now, but "save as" is not an option under the file menu in Numbers. Am I missing some other update?

The developers would rather you used File > Duplicate, but for those who really feel a need for Save As, they have restored is as an optional choice in the file menu. To reveal the Save As option, hold down the Option key while you are viewing the File menu.

Jerry, I thought of using "Duplicate" but it created the duplicate with the "save" only, so I figured it would save the duplicate right on top of the original file. In any event, I will use the 'save as" as you suggested, though it is puzzling why the developers changed this normal designation. Thanks for your help.

Duplicate makes an exact copy of the current state of the document, and it appends the text " copy" to the original filename, so it won't overwrite the original. Then when you File > Save the Duplicate for the first time you are given a chance to completely rename the new document.
