iPhoto and iChat do not open, they close "due to a problem". I have repaired disk permissions a plethora of times, I used Disk Warrior to rebuild the partition. And Ive done everything, including deleting preferences (plists, etc). I appreciate any help. ℹ

You may have older version of iPhoto and iChat that were written with Power PC code. To see if you have any Power PC programs go to the Apple in the upper left corner and select About This Mac, then click on More Info and then System Report . When System Profiler comes up select Applications under Software. Then look under Kind to see if any of your applications are listed as Power PC. Universal and Intel will run under Lion.
There are intel, I would not even begin to fathom why they would be Power PC, but I went and checked, definetly says "Intel"
All iPhoto before iLife '06 in January 2006 was written in Power PC code. iLife '06 through iLife '09 was written to run on both. iLife '11 is Intel only.
This is iLife '11, of that I am positive. Any other suggestions. (BTW This is on a macbook 3,1 (late 2007) running lion 10.7.5 with a Core 2 Duo Processor)
I am really dissapointed in this support community, we are more worried about opinions on iTunes 11 instead of helping others and their problems. It also probably deals with that this is user to user based.
Oh, don't be disappointed in us! Do what it says and reinstall your iLife programs, then run software update and see if that helps.
I ended up reinstalling Lion, that worked perfectly. Thank you for your help Mike.
