Alright so I was working on a video on the iMovie app and after i was done, I deleted some of the footage from the camera roll and then found out that this also removes those same clips on the iMovie app!!! Is there any way to recover a recently deleted video from the iPhone 5 that hasnt had a itunes backup before this happened?

Sorry, no. The data is gone if not backed up to iCloud or iTunes on your computer.
Have you backed up your phone to your computer since taking the video?
Thanks for the response and to the others. I ended up just making new footage better than what I lost since it was for a school project last semester. I just wish there was some way that Apple didn't closely tie both the original footage and the imported footage on iMovie but I guess it's to save memory.
Without iTunes backup, you can try to recover deleted iPhone video from iCloud. Turn on your iPhone, click Settings > iCloud > Storage > Manage Storage, then tap a device listed under Backups to see the date and size of its latest backup.
