I can't see any "Edit" tab in the track info pane.

Am I missing something? I want to get EQ and some effects, but there isn't any tab in the Track Info pane when I show the pane. Am I missing plug-ins?

The layout of your graphical user interface is corrupted. The layout of the user interface is stored in the user preferences file. To repair your interface, try the "Odd Ball Fix" as described in the link above:

  • Quit GarageBand and log off and on again.
  • Remove the user preferences file ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.garageband.plist from your user library.
  • Relaunch GarageBand and check, if your "edit" panel is back.

As you probably know, the User Library is hidden since Mac OS X Lion.

You can reveal it from the Finder's "Go" menu in the main menu bar:

Finder > Go

Then hold down to options-key ⌥, until Library appears in the drop-down menu. Select it and open the Library.
