Dec 13, 2012 3:28 AM in response to Dalek1984by jos3,Same with me. I'm searching for solutions on the web but did not find any sensible answer. Some say the apple tv (2) only updates on WIFI, but that didn't work for me.
Since the new update las november everytime i start up my apple tv is says 'update availble' wit an 'update now' button. When I agree after several minutes it says 'update failed' with a possible solution: 'restart and try again'. I tried this several times during the past weeks but with the same result all the time.
Whan annoys me most is that apple is not responding in any ways to this problem at all. It affects many people.

Dec 13, 2012 3:41 AM in response to Dalek1984by Winston Churchill,Welcome to the Apple Community.
If your problem persists get yourself a micro USB cable (sold separately), you can restore your Apple TV from iTunes:
- Remove ALL cables from Apple TV. (if you don't you will not see Apple TV in the iTunes Source list)
- Connect the micro USB cable to the Apple TV and to your computer.
- Reconnect the power cable (only for Apple TV 3)
- Open iTunes.
- Select your Apple TV in the Source list, and then click Restore.
If you run into a problem when you click restore, try holding down the option key, the file you are looking for when the dialogue box opens can be downloaded below.
