Q: iTunes 11 download iTunes Extras keep getting Error-19

I've downloaded Avengers with iTunes Extras using iTunes 11 running under OS 10.6.8. Film downloads fine. Everytime I try to download extras it gets to the end of 1.65gb then comes up with (err = -19). It lists the file in iTunes but it is greyed out. When i click on it, then go to 'get info' it only says 45.5mb but it says it's location is iCloud. Surely it should have downloaded into my iTunes media folder on my iMacs hard drive. Been in contact with Apple they don't seem to know how to solve the problem. Directed me to a discussion on iTunes LP's which is from 2009.

They also keep going on about firewall and web acceleration. It can't be a firewall issue i've been downloading music and films the past couple of days and I don't use any web acceleration, plus I have set up rules in my firewall preferences to allow the iTunes url's access. Anyone have a clue as to what is happening, personally I think it's a store and iTunes 11 problem.

    Hi Chrisills,

Went to my  macbook pro which is using OS X 10.8.2 as well but I havent upagraded iTunes, mainly because I think the latest iTunes is a backward step to when it iTunes was first  released...but it has iTunes 10.7 (21) on it.

I dont usually use iTunes on that machine but it is a back up for my library in a sense. Went to look for available downloads and there it was...downloaded like a charm and very readable/workable. Hope this helps. I actually decided to do this before I went about deleting anything else for a resolution.

I got the same thing when Downloading Taken2 xtras and Looper Xtras.

Support still has not gotten back to me. Just that they are working on a solution. I already tried deleting the files then checking for available downloads. Haven't tried in a week now. Maybe i will give that another shot.

    Hey Chrisills,

I just downloaded Avengers w/ the Extras and its working fine. Also, DL'd a couple of other movies and the extras work on my macbook pro. Again, that's with ML 10.8.2 and iTunes 11.0.1 ........... I hope you get this fixed .......Did you get any feedback from Apple support?

    Hello,

the only feedback that I've had is that they're still working on the issue. Seems like it's definitely an issue with Snow Leopard if it works under Mountain Lion.

I've this problem too, and Apple Support keep telling me that they are trying to resolve the problem. It's been a while since I bought "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Heart Club Band" from iTunes, and I want my iTunes LP.

I just downloaded "Brave" with eItunes Extra. But iTunes just download HD and SD version of "Brave". I don't have any extras.

And I can't re-download them because iTunes says "all purchases have been downloaded for this Apple ID."

I've had the same problem for over a week now. It is just the iTunes extras for a particular HD movie. I've tried closing iTunes, deleting the temp files in Downloads, re-opening iTunes and try re-downloading. It only ever gets to processing 70% of the file and the quits and gives me the error -19 message. I've Tried this method in upwards of 15 times and no dice. The only good thing is that it never sees this download as complete and as such, keeps trying. The only reason I see this as good is because at least I don't have to re-buy it. I still think it's a corrupt file on some level. Although, after reading other posts in this thread, it might have to do with iTunes 11 interacting with my Snow Leopard.

I do hope there's a fix somewhere down the road. I have held off buying any movies with extras for this reason alone.

    Hi Doc,

Apple support are saying the same to me as well. It makes you wonder. Either they are working on it or it's just a line. I'll trust for the moment that they are working on it, but I think this does highlight a problem with Apple in general. They are very forward thinking, which is good, but they consign things to the past very quickly.

I think they can't be bothered supporting Snow Leopard anymore, even though, I think it's about 30% of Mac users are still using it. Personally I think it's iTunes 11. I've downloaded films with extras in the past. Upgraded to 11, and now this problem happens. They are telling me that they have isolated the problem to 10.6.8, but others here using 10.8, and PC users have reported the same problem.

To be fair to Apple though, they have given me 3 movie rental credits, which is slightly more than the cost of the Avengers film I purchased.

That's what I did. My problem is now solved. Apple add the "extras" on my account, I just had to redownload them.

Chrisills I'd bet on it being iTunes 11. I had no problem on my MacBook Pro which is only 6 months old and has Mountain Lion on it, but only iTunes 10.7 I havent updated iTunes on that because I cant stand iTunes 11. I managed to download my extras on that machine with no probs at all. They need to fix it.

    Hi Nogoodnik,

sorry to hear that bud. I'm guessing it doesn't really matter what film it is, but if it has Extras with it the download doesn't work. When I've been in contact with Apple, I've notified them of this thread that I started but I think if more people actually get in contact with Apple support and report the issue, they will escalate it even further.

I have been in contact with Apple support since the 12th of Dec 2012. It's now the 14th of Jan and still no solution. Maybe in these days of instant access and communication I'm being a little impatient. It does make me wonder when they said they were releasing iTunes 11, they delayed the release. I still think the issue is with iTunes 11, it was working before I upgraded.

I've also held off buying any other movies with Extras, but it also seems to be a problem with music albums that have the iTunes LP as Doc_27 and others have reported.

    Hi Rafale,

did it re-download successfully then? If it did were you using Mountain Lion or Snow Leopard?

    Hi Pauline,

that's what I'm thinking. Although some people are reporting that they can re-download it, some people using Mountain Lion seem to be solving the issue as well, but yes I think the main problem is with iTunes 11.
