Have you restarted your computer?
You say 'hard drives". Do you really mean you have tried multiple hard drives, or is it just the one?
Thanks for responding. None of the flash drives are working. I've restarted the computer. Still nothing is getting read. I have one external that is working after i updated my software but the flash drives and an electronic instrument i have are still not even showing up.

You need to be very specific as to which drives are working. For me a "hard drive" isn't a flash drive. I am wondering if this is a power issue with some devices being self-powered and others relying upon bus power which was somehow affected.
I take it this is just the one port, not others?
