The Bluetooth icon does not appear in my System Preferences > Internet & Wireless folder.
I also get a "No Bluetooth Hardware Found" when try to resolve the problem.
Does that mean I have defective hardware. I have a brand new Macbook Air 11" with OS X 10.8.2.
What to do?
Take it to the nearest Apple Store for a check.
They will also be able to sort out your warranty replacement if this is faulty hardware.
Take it back for replacement. You have 14 days from purchase to have it replaced, no questions asked. Must have all packing material and your receipt.
