Podcasts are on my itunes but will not sync to my iphone.

I usually download podcast right from my iphone. When I plugged into my desktop and sync'd it took all the podcasts off my phone. They are still in itunes but will not sync back to my phone. It will even tell me that it is syncing them to my phone but they do not show up.
