Sep 20, 2013 12:43 PM in response to stu46by Axxxx,Nothing worked for me. I have an Exchange mail account which works just fine and 4 POP accounts (of which 3 Hotmail accounts). All of these 4 can receive messages but not send them. I've been living with this problem for over a year and haven't managed to fix it yet. I have OSX Mountain Lion, and Apple Mail 6.5. It's got nothing to do with the router (Lynksis, which doesn't have the menu as described above), because when I try it elsewhere with my MacBook, the problem persists. Please help.

Jan 29, 2014 1:32 AM in response to stu46by ianevetts,yes, thank you Vincent this worked for me too.
Odd that it suddenly stopped working after months of being ok, I wonder if it was to do with Msft switching from old Hotmail to Outlook? anyway who cares....thanks again Vincent

Feb 4, 2014 1:15 PM in response to vincentfromcorkby anglea,thanks +++++++
I've had this problem on and off for ages when using certain home hubs. then BT reset my homehub last week because my internet was uselessly slow, and havent been able to send hotmail messages from macmail since - driven me mad, contacted BT support, and apple support, and booked into genius bar (but knew that as soon as there it would all send fine). then found your post! solved (for now) thanks so much
