Question

white spots on macbook pro screen

Has anyone else had problems with faint white blotches or spots appearing on the LED screen of a MacBook Pro?

Now for the weird bit! - when I took a screenshot to post in this article, the blotches aren't visible in the image! Before anyone asks, my screen is clean! In the screenshot below, the blotches that were on the right-hand side of the image in the grey area aren't visible!

Any insight into this weirdness would be gratefully received,

I had almost the same problem with a MacBook screen. The bottom of the screen, when it was in black, it looked like showing "lightwaves", if you can understand what I mean. If you're still under warranty, go directly to an apple store.

Thanks for your response ...I'm trying to avoid a trip to Apple if possible, but it looks as though it might be the only option. What's so weird is that the screenshot fails to show the problem!

No, do not try to avoid your trip. I had the same issue, they changed 7 (yes, SEVEN) times the screen without results and eventually they replaced it with a new MBPro. It's not weird that it doesn't appear on the screenshot. It's an lcd problem.
