GPS reroute due to traffic -- never seen this happen yet

If I recall, I've seen this happen on commercials and I've also heard people talk about it somewhere. However, while using the turn-by-turn navigation on my iPhone 5, I've never been rerouted due to the traffic. I've sat in bumper to bumper traffic and it has never given me alternate directions. Do I have to turn this on somewhere? This is very weird.

Do you have "Traffic" turned on in System Services?

There are a couple of reasons the iPhone isn't rerouting you around traffic. First, there may not be a better route; traffic may be bad on all routes to your destination. Where I live this is frequently the case. Second, traffic information is crowd-sourced by people using the app and who have "Traffic" enabled. As so many people are avoiding using Apple Maps and the general advice in this forum is to turn off all System Services the app may not know what traffic conditions are.

Yeah. I do have Traffic turned on in System Services. The thing is though, I've manually located alternate routes to find faster ways (around traffic) to the destinations, but I have absolutely never heard of the GPS rerouting me since day one. I guess this is another useless service to have enabled, given the circumstances you've described.

I appreciate your feedback. I'm probably just going to go ahead and turn this off as well.
