Q: Add radio station to itunes 11.0.1?

Anyone figure out how to add a radio station to iTunes 11.0.1?  Seems like it ought to be easier than it is.  I want to either add a station to the internet radio list, or create a playlist of the stations I want to listen to.

iMac (24-inch Early 2009), OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.2)

You can not add stations to the Radio list in iTunes, these are maintained by Apple. There is an email address you can contact them however it is probably more for the creator to request rather than a user.

As long as your radio station feed is not flash or wma you can try connecting to the stations feed by using File/Open Stream then paste the URL into the box. Once connected you can add the station to a playlist. These stations will appear in the iTunes Music section and the Get Info option should be set to "Skip when shuffling".

If you are an avid radio listener check out http://tunein.com/ , they have a good list of stations. If you create an account you can save your stations to favorites and play them from the web site. As an added bonus if you have an iOS device TuneIn Radio has an app you can also access your Favorites from the web site.

I have had good luck with my local radio stations that were not in TuneIn's directories. 3 stations were quickly added after I emailed the program directors informing them of TuneIn's service.

Thanks, that works for the desktop, but I'm trying to play the stream through Apple TV.  The playlist I created in desktop iTunes with radio urls don't show up on the Apple TV.  When I navigate to the playllists, it shows the playlist, says it has four items in it  (those being the urls I added, presumably), it says instead, "no songs in this library," and won't play any of them.

    Any ideas?

Yes, that is a flaw in the ATV 2 and 3, no radio station support through playlists. It only works with an ATV 1 which the playlists will appear in the Radio app on the ATV. The only option with the ATV 2/3 is to play them in iTunes on the computer then select the ATV as an AirPlay speaker.

This can also be enhanced by using an iOS device with Apple's free Remote app. The above idea of using TuneIn Radio on an iOS device will work as well by selecting the ATV as it's AirPlay speaker.

Thank you, thank you!  Funky workaround, but I've got the station I want to hear, playing through the stereo rather than the desktop, and that was the idea!

As easy as it gets....on the radio link just copy....

Go to your play list and paste...

I also have a playlist only with  my favorite radios and had the same question five minutes ago.

    Good luck and enjoy!

ps: ITUNES people wake up and give us more tools.

I have tried to submit my station and the stubling block is Itunes is using an outdated spreadsheet that MS Word will update and leave out pertinent information. I have tried many times and until they upgrade their software there is not much I can do, the problem is on there end.
