Why can't I download from my GO PRO sd card using the lightening connector?

I bought the lightening SD card adapter thinking I could use my iPad to store films and still pics from my GoPro Hero 3 SD card to fr space when on holiday....

When I plug it in with the SD card from my normal camera it works fine but when I use the GoPro SD it says it can't import. Is there an app or something others use?

Cheers

iPad, iOS 6.0.1

What capacity and type of card is it ? SDXC cards (64+ gig) that are formatted as ExFAT won't be recognised

There appears to be no published SD card size limit, but in this forum and other forums, users report that SD cards are limited to 32GB.

SDHC 32 gig cards should work, the problem with SDXC cards is that I think that they are ExFAT pre-formatted, which the iPad and the kit doesn't recognise. This page lists the supported transfer types (for direct transfer from a camera) and card types :

  • Picture Transfer Protocol (PTP)
  • Mass Storage Device protocol
  • SDSC
  • SDHC
  • miniSD
  • microSD
  • MMC
  • SDXC (supported only when not formatted as ExFAT)
