Macbook Pro late 2008 dead. Battery dead and still should work with AC

I knew the battery was getting low, but long have Ac there was no problem. Well, got a new Mac mini, so, I've been with play it, now power Macbook Pro got turn off and wont turn with AC adapter plugging-in. When battery is dead did mean, even the macbook Pro is in on the AC?

P.S.How can I find the model of battery for this (MB470LL/A ).

Look at the bright side. Even though an older model, its removable battery will be a boon in this case. With the "modern" sealed models, you'd now be in deep poo....
