Did you follow the steps to unlock it and get the message, "Congratulations, your iPhone is now unlocked"?

  • Lawrence Finch Level 8 (35,085 points)

There is no unlock code for an iPhone. You must follow the instructions you received, and if you do it correctly and the phone is unlocked you should receive the message deggie mentioned.

If you do not follow the instructions it will not be unlocked.

If the phone was ever jailbroken it will not be unlocked even if 3 processed the unlock request.

yes i followed allinstructions turn off change sim to non 3 turn on it should turn off after about aminute n come back on and choose network it stays there or wrong sim, please put the sim in that was with your handset or something similar,no service on any sim except 3.... would i need to enter an unlock code cos me or previous owner avnever had a code to enter tounlock, i read up on jail breaks n unlocks from markets n stuff n decided my best option was the network to unlock, they say its done but i cant get itto work with anyother sim except 3

Your instructions should have told you to put leave the SIM in it, connect it to your computer and Restore your iPhone as a new phone in iTunes. Did you do this?

  • eileenleach Level 1 (0 points)

ha ha my instructions did not mention that, so do i put 3 network sim in connect to itunes n restore first then change sim

  • deggie Level 9 (52,739 points)

Yes, after you receive the message I mentioned above.

You don't get an unlock code !

The system is the registered user contacts their Mobile operator confirms iMEI number and pays appropriate fee.

That Mobile operator submits the iMEi number to Apple.

Apple white list iMEi number on their iTunes server and confirms this back to Mobile operator.

The Mobile operator sends the registered user an sms/e-mail inviting them to sync phone via USB cable to their ITunes account.

You follow on screen prompts (With registered sim onboard) until you see the “Congrat's .........” message

You now pull the registered sim and replace it with a sim from another supported network.

Caveat with some of the Virtual networks such a Giff-gaff /Virgin / BT/ Tesco etc........ you may have difficulty getting SMS/MMS to send due to the APN settings being wrong (They default to the actual network sighted).

Some of those Sims may give you access to a hidden menu feature that allows you to set the correct APN manually however others don't.

hi i stillav not got anywhere, i     dont know if there is something im doing wrong or what but previousowner upgraded 3 network contract to iphone  5,i doubt shed av had a contract phone jailbroken cos she wunt need to,she    trannsferred all her stuff  from i phone 4 n gave me the phone, she then  filled in the network unlock form with three and i think paid  for it by card or maybe it is added  to first bill of  upgraded cos three say that on website, she then recieved an email to say unlock has now been processed and to change sim and connect to itunes, i   already had the phone atthis point she kept her sim, so i didnt av a 3 sim to keep in phone wqhilst syb with i tunes and as that was not on instructions from 3s email i tried with t mobile sim n vodafone and o2  and got no service, i then got a 3 sim n tried the phone it    worked with 3 sim so i tried connecting with itunes n got no unlock, iv spent 2 weeks trying all this n cannot unlock, me n previous owner both been on phone to 3 and 3 was doing the restore as new phone whilst connected to me on phone and with access to my pc but itd get righty to end  n disconnect n cancel saying internal error,

I find it almost impossible to understand what you are saying, with no punctuation or sentence structure. So there's not much I can do to help.

If you get an error restoring (I think that is what you said) I need to know the exact error message and error code number.

my space    bar isnt working well however its not all that hard to read, question, can this phone still be unlocked without previous owners  sim card

  • Lawrence Finch Level 8 (35,085 points)

Yes. Previous owner's SIM card is not required. I found it very hard to read, and I'm still not sure what you said. Your "." apparently isn't working either, and neither is your shift key.

  • Keith Doherty3 Level 4 (1,795 points)

    NO !

I have already told you of the process and how things need to be done above.

The lock is achieved by associating a specific Sim card IMEI number and Network identifier.

To unlock All these must correspond with the information submitted to Apple by the Mobile service provider

    In this case “3”.

The original owner Sim must be onboard !
