Computer Crashes frequent

Recently my Mac Pro (3.1) crashes often. this week (just returned from a 4 weeks trip) 3 times already. It askes me to reboot.

Troublesome, because I do video transcoding which takes long time.

When crash, need to start all over again.

There is no backing up on that.

I dont recall to have this problem for at least 6-8 months (Maybe 1x)

Mac Pro 8 Core, Mac Book Pro 15.4, Mac OS X (10.6.8), Black Magic Extreme HD, 10 GB RAM, 4 TB HDD

Crashing can cause directory damage. Disconnect all peripherals from your compouter. If you have DiskWarrior or Techtool Pro run one of these utilities. Afterwards, repair permissions and restart your computer.

You can also do the following....

Disconnect all peripherals from your computer.

Boot from your install disc & run Repair Disk from the utility menu. To use the Install Mac OS X disc, insert the disc, and restart your computer while holding down the C key as it starts up.

Select your language.

Once on the desktop, select Utility in the menu bar.

Select Disk Utility.

Select the disk or volume in the list of disks and volumes, and then click First Aid.

Click Repair Disk.

Restart your computer when done.

Repair permissions after you reach the desktop-http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2963 and restart your computer.
