the default icons disappeared! How to recover them ?

The login icons default does not contain any icons. Preferences\Users & Groups\Passwords does therefore not have the option anymore to change the login icon.

How to recover the default icons ?

Go to Macintoch HD/Library/user Pictures.

Are there any icons folders? If not, enter TM while you are there and restore them.

I found the icons folder. Thank you insofar ! Please guide me how to proceed, because I don't know how to follow your instruction: "enter TM (?) ... and restore them". Do you mean to drag the icons into the ...\Password\Recents folder ? There is no way to recover the icons within the \Password\Defaults folder ? Anyway, I am quite happy with the present solution !
