Unable to connect to wireless network

Happy Holidays to you and your family. The PB has an Original Airport Card and according to the System Profile; Supported PHY Modes: 802.11 b. The modem/router is a Zyxel PK5100-1which supports Security Type WPA and WPA2-Personal. Apparently it does not support WEP, which I have never used

The System Profiler states:Wireless Card Type: Airport

Wireless Card Locale: USA

Firmware Version 9.52

If you ew lookig for more info that may be on the card, I will have to unscre the back cover toget you the info. If I can trust my memory, I think the Airport Card was 802.11b/g compatible. This was the computer that I had trouble wiith in connecting to the local library network, only to find it was a library router problem In the meantime, I tried to add the network name again via the '+' on the network pane. The only security option available with WPA was WPA Enterprise and WPA2 Personal. I tried using WPA2 Personal and when I clicked 'APPLY' pop up window stated that an error occured in joining this network. Do you think the Airport Card needs an uprade? If so, where would I get it?

Tried adding network ID with WPA-2 Enterprise, which was a change from WPA-2 Personal and noticed a slight difference in the setup. It asked for a User ID in addition to the password I left the //user ID 'blank' and attempted toto sign in through the Airport Icon drop down menu. A pop up window appeared stating "There was an error in joing the network. I tried using Security code WPA Personal. I checked the router setup screen and it said it spported WPA and WPA-2 Personal only. I know you feel the Airport card is OK, but yet it does not work with the PB but works with the Airport Extreme in the MacBook 2.0 and the HP laptop

There is no setup so to speak other than to set up the name of the network and password to gain access to the internet. The Security is preset and does not allow any changes. I believe the Century Link Tech stated that the modem/router was 802;11b/g compatible. But, 802.11n is designated in small print on the back of the modem/router.

So what you are saying the that the Original Airport Card which is 802.11b/g does not work with an 802.11n router? And, the only way to get the PB to work with the internet would be to try internet sharing with another computer and how does that work? I would assume it is configured in System Preferences> Sharing> Internet Sharing Preferences>Sharing>Internet Sharing> Select which options Thinking of another option be: purchase a 802.11n (Brlken)USB adapter for the PB and uninstall the Original Airport Card orattach an ethernet cord from the PB to a wired port on the modem router?

I was conferring with Century Link about the problem and he was trying to troubleshoot from his end. I was thinking that maybw it might need a firmware/software update. Anyway, he was having me select the network and inputting the password and I told him about the "Error in joining the network window. He asked whether we used the same network name and password and i informed him that I used a new network name and password. Anyway, I deleted ➖ and added➕ a new Network and Security, rebooting after each delete and add. I then chose the network name from the drop down menu under the Airport Icon. The first time I chose the network name, I noticed the Security was populated as WPA Personal. Knowing I set the Security for WPA2 Personal, I went back to the Network Configuration screen and found that I did configure Security for WPA2 Personal. When I went back to the Airport drop down menu and selected my network, the network name was configured for WPA Personal ans not WPA2 Personal. I do not know where I went wrong. I rebooted after deleting the Network and rebooted after adding the network with Security QPA2 Personal. I did the delete and add twice making sure I rebooted after each delete/add and the result was still the same. To be truthful, I really did not notice the security during my earlier configs. That was my fault. I guess I just concentrated on the fact that I had selected the correc Network and I inputted the correct password. My attention to detail strikes again, I'm sorry!

No, I can not get the network name to change security from WPA Personal to WPA2 Personal. I have deleted , APPLY the network several times, rebooted and added ➕the network again with the WPA2 Personal Security, Appy and rebooted and still when I use the Airport Icon; select the network, it continually come up with the WPA Personal Security codeand there is no option to change the code. I even tried to place a NONE Security Code and it came up with the WPA Personal Code on the Airport Drop down menu. I tried it with the Airport on and off and I reset the modem/router several times. It appears WPA Personal is stuck there. I am getting frustrated (at least as frustrated as a Stroke Survivor can get, but still confused and smiling)
