Can the iPhone output phone audio through USB?

I am planning to purchase a vehicle that has a USB input port for iPod, etc. music playback. If I connect the iphone to the USB port, can I use the car's audio system for hands free phone conversations, i.e. playing the phone audio through the car's speakers? Does the iPhone provide phone audio through the USB cable? Thanks.

iPhone 5, iOS 6.0.1, 64 GB, White

You ask a good question. My phone works in my car both with and without a cable (although it has more music functions with the cable). Without a cable it works via BlueTooth for phone calls. I've never tried to determine if the phone would work with a cable with BT turned off. But presumably any car with a USB connection also has BlueTooth in this decade.

Lawrence, the car I want to buy, a 2013 Infiniti G37 comes with the USB iPod connector in Canada, but not with Bluetooth. To get "Bluetooth audio streaming" I would have to add the Navigation package at $2,950. I don't feel like paying $3k to get the Bluetooth feature (I don't need the GPS) but having a hands free capability through the USB cable would be important. What do you (or others) think? Would the phone work through the USB cable? Thanks.
