FCPx stablization without scaling/cropping

Is there a way to have FCPx stablize a clip so that FCPx does not automatically scale and crop the clip? I know this would cause the "frame" to jump around, creating black bars, etc.

You can set stabilization to zero, but then it will not stabilize. The way stabilization works requires zooming.

If you can imagine stacking all the video frames on top of each other and keeping only those pixels which are in every single frame. Mathematically, this will form a rectangle, and the rectangle will be smaller that the original frame (unless you shoot on a tripod.)

There is no way to stabilize and keep the frame jumping around with black bars.

Thanks, AppleMan. I assume you are saying there is no way in FCPx to stabilize without zooming. Of course, you can do it in After Effects and Mocha (and others) using tracking. I was hoping to avoid having to use an additional program.

BTW, the stacking of the frames you mention only forms a rectangle when there is no rotation of the camera. Rotation makes the zoom/crop issue worse.

I wish FCPx gave me the option to zoom/crop or not.
