bonjour and HP 4250

We recently got an HP LaserJet 4250 (hardly used) from a friend for use in our home office.

This HP LaserJet 4250 connects to the Time Capsule. There is a Windows 7 desktop and an iMac that also connect to the Time Capsule (both connecting through ethernet, of course).

The iMac works perfectly with the LaserJet 4250. There are no printing problems.

However, every time I attempt to print from the Windows 7 desktop I get an error message.

The LaserJet 4250 is set as the default printer in Windows 7. (The same is true with regard to the Mac OS (Lion).)

I’ve downloaded the latest version of Bonjour for Windows. Every time I run the Bonjour Printer Wizard it quickly finds the LaserJet 4250 and asks me if I want to proceed with the installation of this printer. After successfully (supposedly) processing/installing the LaserJet 4250, the Bonjour Printer Wizard informs me that everything has been successfully installed.

At this juncture, we still have one document in the printer queue and it’s impossible to delete the document. It’s also impossible to delete the printer from Devices and Printers (Control Panel).

Please help!

Create a new user with full admin rights on the windows 7 computer..

Leave the network disconnected and see if you can delete the printer if it is in control panel area.

In the TC, make sure you set the workgroup correctly in the file sharing area to WORKGROUP.

Make sure the Win7 computer is set to home, not work or public. You may also have to turn off firewall.

Turn on the guest account in file sharing on the TC.

Set all SMB stardard names in the TC, ie short, no spaces, pure alphanumeric.

Any of the better series HP printers you should be able to purchase an EIO network card.. cheaply even on ebay.. do so.. never network by USB .. it is designed for local computer installation.
