wireless emergency alerts on AT

I see that Wireless Emergency Alerts (WEAs) are available for iPhone 5s on Sprint and Verizon, but I cannot anything about getting the alerts on iPhones on the AT&T network. Some of AT&T's documentation says that they support WEAs on some Android phones.

What is the real story?

iPhone 5, iOS 6, AT&T

As an emergency responder, I am well aware of the WEA system. What I want is some understanding of the situaiton with an iPhone 5 on AT&T celular service.

At7t's web site says that they support WEA but does not list any versions of iPhone as compatible. However, both Verizon and Spritn do rpovide weA service on iPhones. I tried both AT&T's on-line support and the customer assistance phone number. In both cases, I was run around in circles without getting an answer.

I had hoped to get a useful answer here, but no luck so far.

Well, fact is, this is all in AT&T's hands. iOS devices capable of running iOS 6.0 are able to receive these alerts. As of this date, AT&T has not rolled this out to iPhones/iPads. In fact, even though both Sprint & Verizon have rolled it out to iOS devices, not all users everywhere will see these settings. It's a phased roll-out with these carriers, and remember, this is not mandatory, but rather voluntary.
