Pioneer DVR-107D and OS 9

I don't know if anyone is left that can help with an OS 9 question but here goes.

The combo drive in my G4 Dual 867 MDD no longer will write CD's. Keeps reporting some type of Hardware error. I figured I'd get a SuperDrive and put it in the second optical bay.

The one I ordered said it was for the G4 MDD Macs but when I installed it the message "Disc Burning not supported" pops up whenever I try to burn a CD with it.

The Apple System profiler shows it as being a Pioneer DVR-107D and it says Disc Burning: supported.

It will read and mount CD's that are inserted and will recognize a blank giving me the options dialog box.

I have a copy of Toast Lite 5.0.2 (last one for OS 9) and it shows the recorder in the list but even when selected does not show as the chosen recorder.

Is this just too new a recorder to be supported by OS 9?

Apple Disc Burning only supports CD-R/RW in OS9; if you want to burn DVD's you need Toast (update yours to 5.2.3, 5.1 is flaky for DVD support)

If you cannot even burn CD's via the Finder or iTunes, you need to modify the PioneerCDR Authoring Support Extension; the model # (DVR-107) must be present in order for the OS to burn to the drive.

I can post specific directions, but first search discussions, I have posted them for the DVR-110 drive, the only difference in your case will be that you only have to change the "3" in DVR-103 to the "7" in DVR-107. This will be clearer when you find & read my already posted directions.
