Installation of BootCamp to External HDD

I apologize in advance if this is a common topic, however I have been wondering why I cannot install Windows through Bootcamp to the external drive on my iMac. However I can install the OS for OS X without an issue. Explain to me how this works? Missing C: drive? Help me learn!

I'm sorry, but Windows can't be installed on an external disk. Then, Boot Camp can only install Windows on a second partition on your computer
