iphone 5 screen goes black

Yes this happened with my iPhone 5s. I was going to give it to my son today I got an iPhone 7 Plus however it also happened to update to iOS 10.3.3 and the second it did that black screen. It won't reset with the old check of the power sleep button anymore. I've tried to save it

Hold the HOME and SLEEP buttons at the same time until an Apple logo appears (10-20 seconds). Release and wait

those things happens sometimes with no reasons at all. If it happens more than once during the same day, go to the genius bar and have them look at the phone (this way your problem will be noted if something more happens)

I have had the similar issue with my iphone 5 on vodaphone network:

"On two occasions the screen on my iphone 5 (ATT) has gone black. The only response I can get from the home button and power button is for it to take a screen shot of the blackness.

This occured most recently while completing a voice call.

After a few minutes the phone seems to return to normal."

Therefore I went to genius bar and they replaced my phone. However I am having similar issue with my new iphone 5. I think it could be a bug on ios 6.1.2.

It happens to me too, first time on my iphone 5. Experience this first time only after i have downloaded ios7. Is it just a bug? or should i be worried?

Same for me. I just got the new iphone 5 for a week. And it turned black screen after I finished calling my friend.

Hope Apple can solve this problem ASAP if it doesnt want to lose more customers.

Coparing to 4 and 4s, iphone 5 is really not doing a better job.

Just experienced this for the first time as well, after owning it for a year, and I have been on iOS7 since the first week it was released (a couple of months, now?). The screen went black at the exact end of a call. At first, it displayed only my home background without any apps, and so I hit the Sleep button and wanted to turn it back on with no success. Only the Home button worked and Siri responded. Thanks for the tip on the hard reset by holding the Sleep button and Home button simultaneously for 20 seconds!

I have the same problem! I'm having it right now actually. I was just updating an app and suddenly my screen went black. I can hear that I have messages and that someone is trying to call me, but I can't see a thing. I've tried the sleep button, but nothing happened..

What should I do?
