how do you bring a mp3 into garageband ?

im trying to bring in beats and other mp3 clips into garageband from my itunes but the dragging and dropping does not work. how do you do it !!?? please help /FYI: im using a 15inch mac book pro OSX 10.8.2

Two ways to do that:

Drag the mp3-song to the Desktop and from there into the time line in GarageBand.
Use the Media Browser in GarageBand to select the song in iTunes and drag it from the Media Browser into the timeline in GarageBand.

click the iTunes icon to open the Media Browser.
