iTunes on my iPad stopped recognizing my iPad.

After installing ios 6.01 on my iPad 2 my Hachi Calendar App stopped synching with my outlook calendar on my laptop. Following the instructions in the support article resulted in iTunes on my laptop not recognizing my iPad. I followed the instructions to solve the problem without success. The laptop does not recognize the iPad as a camera nor as a disk. It simply does not recognize the ipad. Any suggestions?
