run hardware diagnosis with lion

I have a macbook pro from 2009 and recently I have updated to snow leapord. I would like to run the hardware diagnostic test to my compouter. However, it does not work anymore by pressing 'D' during the reboot. Therefore I am wondering what is the right way to initiate the hardware diagnostic test now.

Thank you very much

With the older Mac's the AHT (Applpe Hardware Test) was included on one of the 2 system disc that came with the system. I may of also been install with that older version of OS X and removed when you upgrade to Snow Leopard. So dig out those original system disc and insert one and hold down the D key. If that one doesn't get you the AHT try the other.

How to run hardware diagnostics for an Intel Mac

Boot from your original OS X Installer Disc One that came with your computer. After the chime press and hold down the "D" key until the diagnostic screen appears. Run the extended tests for a minimum of two or three hours. If any error messages appear note them down as you will need to report them to the service tech when you take the computer in for repair.

Some "common" error indicators:

SNS - sensor error

MEM - memory error

HDD - hard disk drive error

MOT - fan error

If this doesn't work then try:

Apple Hardware Test- iMac (Mid 2007) and later models

Intel-based Macs- Using Apple Hardware Test

OS X Mountain Lion- Use Apple Hardware Test
