Q: Does personal hotspot also work with the new ipad 4 wifi only?

Want to buy newest ipad 4 but don't know if I need the cellular one or only the one with just  wifi. Just need to know if you can use the personal hotspot on iphone 4s for wifi internet for the ipad. What does the cellular do extra?

    If your iPhone carrier supports Personal Hotspot and subscribe to it you can use the phone for an internet connection. The downside is that you need two devices. If the iPad has a cellular ration then you only need one device but you have to have the data plan for the iPad.

    It does what you are trying to do with the iPhone. Use the Cellular network's internet access directly. And the Cellular iPad has a GPS chip which the Wifi only model lacks.

     

    The hoitspot created by the iPhone is a standard Wifi network, so any Wifi capable device should be able to connect to it including the iPad
