how can I upload iphoto now that I have upgraded to Mountain Lion?

I find that now that I have upgraded to Mountain Lion 10.8.2 I am unable to upload my iphoto files. I am directed to upgrade, I upgrade by nothing happens and then it shuts down.

iPhoto '11, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.2)

If you have the current version of iLife, you can download the latest iPhoto from here:

iPhoto 9.4.2

If not, you will have to buy iPhoto.
