macbook screen goes black several minutes into streaming, F2 brings display back

I Have a (2007?) black macbook. 2 Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo with 3 GB 667 Mhz DDR2 SDRAM running OS X Lion 10.7.5.

It's mainly used as a mirror display for streaming. Most recently, after several kernel panic messages that required constant shut down and restarts [after receiving black screen with multiple languages saying "required shut down of computer / power off"], I erased macbook and rebooted all OS X; from disk Tiger, to disk Snow Leopard, to Lion download. No peripheral programs being used.

I've reconnected several cords, adapters, etc. Cleaned computer. Also, employ cooling pad with fans while in use to keep temperature down.

While streaming Netflix, and occasionally other sites, macbook display shuts off and goes black unprompted while streaming. F2 will bring display back to life. Screen saver is off and set to Never.

What am I missing? Anyone have a fix on this?

Restart your computer while holding the D key before the grey start up screen appears, it should start to the Apple Hardware Test. If for some reason it doesn't insert the original install disc that says it contains the hardware test. Since your original system was Tiger it may be on disc 2. Anyway insert the proper disc and start up while holding the option key, that'll bring up the boot panel from where you can select and run the hardware test. Run it in extended mode for awhile. I suspect that there may be a hardware problem due to the kernel panics you were having.

Tried secondary reboot of OS X. Could not run Apple Hardware Test from disk despite several tries.

Then ran freeware testing: Rember. Diagnostics showed all systems OK. Also ran Disk Utility, verified and repaired

disk permissions. Reset PRAM and reset all display functions to never. Have not had anymore problems, as of yet.

Not sure what solved problem; but THANKS for all suggestions.

Will repost if problem recurrs.
