Iphoto - Pictures Finder

Just starting to learn pictures, I have put a disc in the cd drive, the pictures have gone straight to Pictures in the finder, Can I import the pictures straight to i photo, instead of copying them from finder to i photo ? Once I have transfered them from finder to i photo, is it a good idea to delete them from the finder. Any help on this subject would be really apprieciated.

Check in System Preferences/CD's & DVD's that you have "Open iPhoto" selected for "When you insert a picture CD".

Once photos are imported into iPhoto, you can safely delete them from your User/Pictures.

be careful impoting photos into iPhoto. iPhoto may ask if you want to delete the photos from the source. I always say NO.
