Magic Mouse vs. Magic Trackpad

I've never owned a laptop, and the few times I used one, I found the trackpad a royal PITA (more accurately, Pain In The Finger/Hand/Wrist). But that was prior to the Magic Trackpad, and I'm wondering if my experience is specific to the types of trackpads found in those older laptops, or if it's pretty much what I'd experience with the MagicTrackpad.

Any "hands-on" opinions?

I have never used a magic mouse, but use my magic trackpad & built in trackpad ( I have a macbook air) relgiously. The magic trackpad uses amazing technology to sense your fingers, even in 4-5 fingers at once. Touching an apple trackpad is nothing like clicking a regular mouse / trackpad. I know this is a weird example, but picture touching a magic trackpad / magic mouse as touching your hair just hard enough to feel the skin. an apple trackpad / mouse is programmed to that kind of touch. Since you barely have to touch it, it rarely causes pain. There is no 'clicking' involved. The magic trackpad is flat, but if keeping your hand flat hurts, it may help to use the magic mouse or vice versa.

I have the Magic Mouse — have owned one since it was introduced — so I know how it "feels" compared to a regular mouse and regular trackpad. And, except for its absolutely horrible energy performance (it goes through batteries like you & I might go through a bag of potato chips!), I love the device.

Given how I feel about the Magic Mouse compared to "regular" mice, and how I feel about "regular" trackpads, I'm just wondering whether I would like the Magic Trackpad. And if so, would I prefer one over the other (i.e., Magic Mouse vs. Magic Trackpad)?
