Since update to iTunes 11 cannot sync calendars and contacts with iPod 5th Gen (clickwheel)

Since I updated to iTunes 11, my iPod 5th Gen (clickwheel) will not sync calendars or contacts with my computer. By trying to sync, the calendars and contacts that are currently on my iPod have not been erased, they are just frozen in time and aren't being updated. I have had no trouble syncing music or podcasts on my iPod 5th Gen. and I haven't had any issues at all with my iPad.

I get the following messages: "No contacts are available on this computer. Contacts in iCloud cannot be synced to this iPod" and "No calendars are available on this computer. Calendars in iCloud cannot be synced to this iPod." These messages make no sense. I do indeed have calendars and contacts on my computer. I don't even sync my calendars with the iCloud because that has caused other problems that I won't go into here. All I am trying to do is sync the calendars and contacts on my computer with my iPod. There must be something about the new iTunes that is making this not happen.

Does anybody know if I need to change the settings or some solution to this issue? Is it a bug that Apple needs to fix?

Same here! I can no longer store contacts on my iPod Classic. This is such a sily message because contacts WERE on my computer, but iCloud took them away. This is a dumb bug that Apple needs to fix, just let it get the current version of iCloud contacts every time it syncs; I'm obviously okay with my iPod classic not updating contacts while it's not plugged in (and indefinitely offline).

Ok a solution of sorts is to create a folders on your ipod (if they don't already exist), called Calendars and one called Contacts.

Open contacts (the application) on your mac, select all your contacts and choose export vCard. Save this as iSync.vcf to the folder contacts on your ipod.

Likewise open iCal and export as a calendar archive named iSync to the Calendars folder on the ipod.

if you already have these files in the folder you will get the message' “iSync.vcf” already exists. Do you want to replace it?'

choose 'Replace'.
