Hi out-there! this thing is driving me nuts.......NOT, intutive!

Ok, here's my deal: I use MSN for my email. Not HOTMAIL, just plain olde MSN. I receive em's ok, but cannot forwart those em's. The reason I believe, is because I don't have an SMTP address for MSN.

When I input "smtp.msn.com, the iPad responds with "the SMPT server "smtp.msn.com" is not responding. Check your network connection and that you entered the correct information in the "OUTGOING MAIL SERVER" field.

Any ideas, ANYONE ?

Are your username and password entered into this settings for the outgoing mail server?

Settings>Mail, Contacts, Calendars>Your email account>Account>Outgoing mail server - tap the server name next to SMTP and check in the primary server and make sure your username and password are entered and correct - even if it says that the password is optional.

I don't use MSN but you could try

smtp.live.com

SSL enabled, port 25

Just a gues from doing a Google search for MSN SMTP settings.

I found something a little different. It is for setting up a different email-related application:

MSN Outgoing Mail Server - smtp.email.msn.com (select "My outgoing server requires authentication")

Feel free to search the web yourself for more possibilities.

Yep, have that, but I did notice my username did not include the rest of the title: "@msn.com," which I have changed, and the I hit the "authentication" button, and it's been in the "verifying" mode ever since ????

That works, but is for "MSN-LIVE" which I don't care to get into.......Big Brother-type, like FB

Aside from the two suggestions posted above that you can try (and based on their suggestions, I can see why this would be driving you nuts) - if you can't get it to verify, you might be better off just deleting the account and starting all over again from scratch.
