I have just changed service provider and now my phone is not working. Got old provider to unblock the phone but it reads SIM Failure for new provider. Also not recognised on itunes. WHat do I need to do please?

Was it jailbroken or otherwise "unlocked" before you got the original carrier to unlock it?
It was all legit, never interfered with
get a new sim card then if it was never jailbroken
tried that, was back in with new SP today. sim is fine on other phones just not liking my iphone
Then it sounds like the SIM failed or is otherwise bad. Get it replaced.
sim is working in a spare phone. with out the sim in I can access my itunes account. with it in I get a message "we are unable to continue with your activation at this time"
Then the unlock has not completed. Did you follow the instructions from the original carrier and restore the phone using iTunes in order to complete the process? Did you get the "Congratulations, your iPhone is unlocked" message when you did so?
No - I am missing an email from them, All I knew was that I needed tio connect to itunes so I guess I have missed a step! - Do you know the process I need to follow?
