Quicktime Streaming Server outside of LAN

Dear,

I have a trouble using the Quicktime Stream Server outside of LAN.

It works perfectly inside the LAN by such as "rtsp://localhost/sample.mov"

However, when I try it out side of my LAN, by typing from different machine with "rtsp://my.serverdomain.com/sample.mov", it does not connect.

I am using a Mac Mini Server with Lion, (10.7.5), and a time capsule as the router.

Both 554 and 7070 ports are open on it.

Could anyone help me solve this issue?

I installed the streaming server with DarwinStreamingSrvr6.0.3-OSX after changing the 'VolumeCheck' file line 29 to skip the OS check.

Thank you very much in advance.

Hi Topher,

Thanks for your response.

I found out the followings.

Before listing the findings, here is my network configuration.

WAN

|

Time Capsule

|

| (wirelessly)

|

- Mac Mini Server (Max OS Lion 10.7.5 with Quicktime Streaming Server Installed) with IP 168.1.1.100 fixed.

- Macbook Pro with IP 168.1.1.4

Findings.

1. From Mac Mini Server, rtsp://localhost/sample.mov works.

2. From Mac Mini Server, rtsp://168.1.1.100/sample.mov does NOT work.

3. From Macbook Pro, rtsp://168.1.1.100/sample.mov does NOT work.

4. From WAN, rtsp://my.domain.com/sample.mov does NOT work.

So, from the findings above, it seems that this is not even working inside the LAN but the Mac Mini Server itself.

This is my Time Capsule port forwarding settings.

Public TCP ports: 554, 7070

Private TCP ports: 554, 7070

Private IP address 168.1.1.100

and these settings are the same for my other servers like apache, smtp, imap etc and all work fine.

What would be the causes of the issues and how should I fix it?

Thank you very much,
