iPhone 5 wifi issue, even after iOS 6.0.2

So my iPhone 5 always had the problem of disconnecting from the wifi signal I was on whenever the iPhone is locked. This is a little frustrating because this means I don't get notifications from apps like the email app, Facebook, Whatsapp, Viber, etc.

I was elated at the newsw of the iOS 6.0.2 update which would "fix" supposed Wifi bug. Evidently it didn't. If you have had previous experience such as this or know anyone who does, you opinion is much appreciated.

Per designed, Wi-Fi will disconnect in sleep mode to save battery.

If you want Wi-Fi to stay connected even in sleep mode, plugin to a wall power socket.

No it's not "per design". It's not supposed to disconnect when locked/in sleep mode. The whole concept of having live notifications to work when your phone is locked is the standard for smartphones. Having this feature only accessable when pluging/charging the phone is rediculous and counter-productive. But it's good to know that I'm not the only one who has this issue. I hope all our issues are solved swiftly, good luck to you all 🙂

Well, I always felt that the iPhone 5 battery was less than stellar since purchase. But I didn't notice any considerable difference in battery life after updating to iOS 6.0.2

I haven't encountered what you mentioned about "doing nothing in 6 hours...battery went down 15 percent". I leave my phone on when I go to sleep, and at most it only goes down by 4~5%.

I'm sorry I couldn't offer you any additional insight on your issue.

Same issue with the wifi after updating to 6.0.2 . wifi is completely useless (no matter to what router I connect, it cannot even pass the Speedtest.net test, as it shows 0 download and/or upload every time I run the test) and i barely have any 3g traffic included in my plan. This is incredibly frustrating and I really hope they get to fix it soon.

When it comes to the battery drain, so far I haven't noticed any difference but having in mind I can't use the internet on it practically at all I can't really know for sure...

Guys, I think I MAY have solved this wifi disconnection issue. I restored my iPhone 5 through iTunes and reinstalled iOS 6.0.2. After the phone was restored and up and running, I tested the stability of the wifi connection by connecting it to a wifi signal and locking the screen and unlocking it in 1~2 mins (this time span would have disconnected the wifi signal before I tried restoring the phone). I was surprised that it held the signal when I turned on the screen.
I recommend everyone try to restore their phone through iTunes.🙂 Please tell me whether or not it worked for you
Good luck!
