Jonathan, just one question... When you said "restore" the iPhone through iTunes what do you meant? Delete everything in the phone and then restore from the backup?? Thanks for your help!!

  • Jonathan Level 1 Level 1

Yeah, I'll tell you what I did :
I made sure I backed up my phone to iTunes just prior to clicking on "Restore iPhone". Then after everything is removed/deleted, iTunes will ask you if you would like to set the iPhone as a "New iPhone" or from a previous backup.
    Thanks for the support

    Hi Jonathan,

tried what you suggested (Also an Apple instruction) as well with my 4S, restoring the phone helped only for a

    couple of minutes...

    Its definitelly not a solution.

There should be a IOS 6.0.2 issue...

My 5 was working fine with ios 6.0.1 and now not only am I losing wifi, but my phone shuts off on it's own, slider on lock screen works intermittently, and sometimes to get the phone back on I have to do a hard reset.  This is not fun, especially when my phone was perfectly fine before this!

  • Jonathan Level 1 Level 1

My apologies, it seems that my iPhone 5 still has the same issue of disconnecting from wifi when the phone is locked even after a complete restore through iTunes. I really don't know what else to do, because now I can't even restore it again. It shows an unknown error and that the phone could not be retored. I really don't know what to tell you guys, but its comforting to know that I'm not facing this issue alone. If anything new comes up, please share it on this discussion, I will do the same.
    Good luck, everyone

I have restored 6.0.2 on my iphone 5 with itunes, the wifi issues remain...frustrating

Lets all go to our local apple store and get them to figure it out !

This wifi & battery issue is so widespread I would hope apple is addressing this issue and reading this post. My i5 was perfect before the 6.02 update and now has awful wifi issues as well as battery drain. I've done resets and tweaks to no avail knowing its not the phone, it is the firmware. My son just bought a i5 AND a 4s for his g/f and I warned him do not upgrade the ios. I stopped in a AT&T store today and was amazed how a 50$ lumia 820 made this phone dated as far as performance. I would think apple would let us return to the previous ios that worked great until they come up with a solution to at least show some appreciation towards the tremendous Apple iphone/iPad following. I could revert to my i4 but as I mentioned it is not the phones fault, at this point it is poor customer service by not allowing a rollback. I ask for nothing other than give me the ios 6.01 back.....

    Same even when

    it is charging

same with me my ip5 gets so hot and my battery drains fast, i've read some ip5 probs in the net and most of them wants their phone replaced

  • dholz Level 1 Level 1

The phone was great before the 6.02 update, and yeah it gets hot and battery life is worse than a 10 year old laptop. But I'll give apple till end of January to fix this issue, if not both my ip4 and 5 will be on ebay and ill buy a competitors phone, not that Apple will care but it will end this frustration

My wife and I have expirenced the same exact thing. I use wifi at work and i have to turn wifi off just to download my email because my phone will just sit there searching for a signal. I find that when I'm home if I'm inmy bed room which is about 30ft from my wifi base station it shows the router it shows it's got 3/4 to a full signal, but when I connect to it I get the error that unable to join. When I sit right next to teethe router the it connects, but I get .19Mbps download and .03Mbps upload speeds and pings are 94 to 118 ms on average. When I test my wife's iPad 3 and my original iPad and my Mac mini which are all hooked up on wifi I am averaging 10 to 15 Mbps download with 10 to 11Mbps uploads and pings in the 48 to 58 ms range. I have renewed my lease on wifi setting, I have made the phone forget the network at both home and work. I have done a hard reset, I have restored the phone. I have done every possible thing that can be done to fix the issue with the exception of going back wards on the iOS build. Everything I have tried does not work. I firmly believe that iOS 6.0.2 made my wifi connection worse. Please Apple fix this issue your costing me money on my LTE plan.

It sometimes appears to be a memory-cache issue, sometimes when using safari on text intensive sites or doing research using specific apps, I get the popup to choose a network yet I'm already connected to one. I have found that rebooting the phone by holding both the home button and the power button down until the screen blanks and the apple reappears seems to flush memory and wifi plus phone are more stable as well as quicker. There is definitely a problem with the ios 6.02 more widespread than apple may think, just hope they don't wait until the next phone release.
