How do I record a sound or voice into my computer? And where IS the mic? I did it once before I just cannot remember how

here you can see the mic
you most likely have to unmute it in settings
as to what app you should use then here are many
I thought there was a built in way to do it like in iTunes or something.....isnt there a program with the system
