Wifi on my Ipad mini has become very poor post ios upgrade to 6.0.2

Hi all,

After the launch of ios 6.0.2, I have upgraded my ipad mini. Since then, the wifi strength on my ipad has gone down. Earlier, the youtube video used to play very smoothly but now most of the time it goes into buffering mode. Is any one else having the same problem...

When i try to play the same video on my laptop or my blackberry mobile, i always get smooth video flow, that means i do not get buffering circles...

Guys, please help me..

In all the article, it says that ios 6.0.2 fixes the bug related to the wifi, but with this upgrade my connectivity has gone very poor

Try This...

Close All Open Apps... Perform a Reset... Try again...

Reset ( No Data will be Lost )

Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears. Release the Buttons.

If no joy...

Connect to iTunes on the computer you usually Sync with and “ Restore “...

I tried doing both.. But still no luck.. as of now am trying to restore using itunes, but then also am doubtful about the improvement in the connectivity..

My daughter like to see youtube video but when most of the time it gets stuck with the buffering, she gets impatient and thus somehow i could not make her wish fulfill...

Some things to try first:

1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.

2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.

3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html

4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.

5. Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)

• Launch Settings app

• Tap on Wi-Fi

• Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list

• In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.

I updated my Ipad2 to IOS6 when it came out. My wifi problems started immediately. The signal which used to be perfect in my house is now very very weak. Same in all my office wifis. ie, basically I cant use my product on awifi anymore. I have read all these threads, and searched the interenet, watched the videos to solve it.

Nothing works.

I read some people are saying I need a new router becuase IOS6 doesnt talk to old routers.

Now, I cant belive Aplle havent solved this.

I have a product which basically Apple has rendered useless.

I am thinking on moving to Samsung, because the IOS6 has been an unmitigated disaster, and clients have been left totally in the dark.

So I ask apple, should I wait and have them fix it, or just give up on IOS?

Roger, i completely agree with u..

The same wifi.. i am able to use it in my laptop (which is almost 10 years old) and also on blackberry.. and the youtube video quality is awesome.. I do not have to wait for video to buffer or to start.. its like just click and it plays..

but in my ipad.. the scenario is quite different.. First i have to wait for it to buffer... then after almost 1 min it would then start playing for 2 sec and then again buffers..

I am not happy with the way the youtube video is being played..

Apple.. please look into the issue.. am not sure how and why other ppl are saying that their wifi problem has improved.. Mine has gone very bad.... it just take **** lot of time to just play a single small video..

For the record.. I spent 5 hours to get IOS 6.0.2 reload in my ipad and still, no change...

I'm mad as ****. All devices are working: MacBook Pro, iMac, iPhone 5 ... and even my ancient 1st Gen iPad are all working just fine! But my brand new iPad Mini will not connect to my Wifi, and the problem started just after the "update" to 6.0.2 NO WIFI, cannot connect ... piece of sh*t, Steve would be furious! I've tried everything posted, but still get "Unable to join the network" EVERY God d*mn time. And why does this edit out my profanity? Nerds, that only makes me madder!!

yup same problem here when i got my iPad Mini on Nov 7th the wireless worked everywhere with ios 5.1.1 getting the same signal strength as my 4G iPod touch ( i test it just for kicks good thing i did ya ?). When I updated to 6.0.0 I noticed the wifi will drop and disconnect and sometimes pick up and have full bars but no actual internet was transferring I can move a meter away if am lucky from my router and it will lose all wifi furthermore nothing changed with this “fix” 6.0.2 update still the same problem

Apple ppl needs to surely look into the matter as this is something which everyone is ****** off with.. M not sure if they are actually looking at this comment or not but this is something which they need to look into..

We have paid for the device, and whats the use if we are not able to use it to fullest... As of now, it is nothing but a pure apple brick now...

Dec 25, 2012 3:27 PM in response to rgkeshv

the issue is that the ios 6.0.2 is newer software than everybody's router's firmware. They should tell you that before you update. Of course a older version of software works fine with a older version of firmware. Apple should give people that info before they update. I posted this link at apple.com/feedback. This is where the "engineers" are supposed to see all of the feed back.
