how do I sync iphone with music

I must be the dumbest guy on the planet. I plug my phone into iTune and it does not sync my music. I can see music when I have wireless on but want to be able to play music with Airplaine mode. How do I

iPhone 5, iOS 6.0.2

Please get iPhone User Guide - iOS 6.pdf.

You must have your music already in the iTunes Library. When you connect your phone and select it under Devices, then click on the Music tab in the main window, select the music you want synced.
