My pc is windows 8, iTunes 10.7, i have iOS 6.0.2. When i plug in the lightning cable to the pc and iPhone, it does absolutely nothing, doesn't start charging, doesn't install drivers, doesn't sync to iTunes, nothing. Bonjour and apple mobile service are running and have been restarted many times, so has the pc. The cable works fine charging from mains, how do i connect it to pc?

I have had a similar experience and find that when I re-insert the USB into my computer it will connect ( sometimes I have to do this several times before it recognizes my iPhone). Have you tried doing a hard reset of your iPhone?

Using a slightly older MacBookPro running OS X Lion and iTunes 11.0.1(12).
Doesn't seem to matter which USB port I plug the phone into, most of the time it does nothing. I have to reboot the phone AND the laptop before it will recognize again. I'm starting to experiment with the sleep mode of the MPB because I think it may be related.
