I'm unable to update software, from original software I purchased it in! After trying to updated like 5 different times and get the same message that something went wrong with my Internet connection. Please some help me

It would be very helpful to know the Exact wording of the Error message you are getting...
It says
There was a problem downloading the software for the iPhone the network connection timed out
Please check that your network settings

Temporarily disable your firewall and antivirus software and try again...

I disabled firewall and was able to update my iTunes cause couldn't update that either! But can't update the software for my iPhone 4 yet. How long does it normally take to update it cause it says 3 hrs!
2 factors to consider are... The Size of the Download and YOUR internect download speed.
3 hours could be correct... but may only be an estimation that will drastically reduce over time and then it could take a lot less time...
The download stopped and something it said that the network connection timed out.
Then you are back to square one...
