My iPod touch 5 doesn't show the fully charged icon (plug) though I charge it for like six hours?

Even if I charge it for almost six hours, it still doesn't show the plug icon (which determines if the gadget is fully charged already). Instead, it just shows the charging icon. And whenever I leave it for some hours on airplane mode, it still gets drained. What should I do?

iPod touch, iOS 6.0.1

Try rebooting the iPod. To do this, hold down the home and power buttons down at the same time until you see the black screen with the Apple logo. After it loads up, try charging it again. If that doesn't work, try using your iPod until it powers off due to low battery. You will know it is out of power because you can press the power button and it will show a connect to charger screen with a plug to a lightning bolt. There will be a picture of a battery with a line of red flashing. Then, let it charge for six hours. Also, try changing where you charge your iPod. If you are charging through your computer, try a different usb port. If you are charging though a wall charger, try a different outlet or try charging your iPod though your computer. If the above doesn't work, try restoring your iPod. Lastly, if that doesn't work, you need to setup a Genius Bar appointment at your local Apple Store: http://www.apple.com/retail/geniusbar/
