How long does it take before I can use my iPod touch?

I understand I have to register it and everything, but after I do that, can I just hook it up and transfer my apps to it and then play? I'm getting one for Christmas, so I need to find out soon! Thanks! And does it come fully charged? I got it from target.

iPod touch, Fourth Generation, computer-windows

You can start using it immediately. It comes with approximately 2/3 charge.

How do you know what you're getting for Christmas?

As the battery becomes more charged, the charge rate slows down so it might take several hours to get to 100%. I wouldn't worry about it. Use it until it shuts down automatically (six to eight hours) and then plug it into the charger and take a break.

According to Apple:

Use Your iPad Regularly

For proper reporting of the battery’s state of charge, be sure to go through at least one charge cycle per month (charging the battery to 100% and then completely running it down).

Elsewhere, Apple elaborates and explains that two half-discharges (or four quarter-discharges, etc.) equals one full discharge.
