Why can I not GIFT apps using my current iTunes balance???

I agree with some points that is how it works. Because apple do things they want....

It's quite nice that way being so unique and remarkable. However it is so inconvenient for users who sometimes just want to gift things without a credit card or such whatever. Because sometimes it's meaningless to have balance when you aren't able to spend it.

The point is made. Many are not happy with it but that's life. Just take it or leave it...

In this case Apple is not unique. Other stores also do not allow giving gifts with a gift card balance; Amazon for instance. Why that is I don't know, but there must be some accounting and/or legal issue involved that causes these companies to impose that restriction.

I will not allow giving gift with gift card balance either. And it is different on amazon or other stores. Ich did not mean unique by that. There are many things that makes apple unique.

Anyway, I really don't care anymore. It's just inconvenient. Maybe we will have someday gift card balance to buy our own stuffs and 'normal' balance for gifts on iTunes. Why does it always have to be gift card balance?

A gift card (or gift certificate) is the only way to carry a credit balance in the iTunes Store. For other purchases, including gifts to others, you need to have a credit card, and some people don't have one or don't want to use one in the iTunes Store.

I understand very well how it works. Just have been wondering the whole time why iTunes Store does nothing to make it more convenient. Many european users don't want to put their credit card information online. It's merely a personal choice and it would be nice if it were possible.

Again, we don't know why the iTunes Store doesn't allow using a gift balance to give other gifts, but since a number of stores have the same restriction, there must be some good reason. Whether this will ever change no one here can say, so there's really no point in continuing this discussion in these user-to-user technical support forums.

Beacause it's a way of laundering money.

You cannot "fix". It is not broken.

This is how it works.

You cannot gift using gift money.

You will have to use a cc.

You can always get the recipient a gift card rather than getting one for yourself and then gifting them specific content.
