Pls help ! I'm also facing rapid battery drain on my Iphone 5 after updated to IOS 6.0.2. My battery loss 40% overnight about 8hours during my sleep time. With Location and Notifications OFF. The battery drain even faster if I use it to play games.

1. An about 10 minutes of game time on Subway Surf = Loss 12% .

2. An about 10 minutes of game time on Clash of Clans = Loss 14%

3. A quick browing and reading a short article (2-3mins) on Cnet about IOS 6.0.2 draining battery = Loss 5%.

4. Open and sent 4 short messages on Whatsapp = Loss 2% instantly.

All above with volume off & brightness at 50% .

APPLE PLS DO SOMETHING FAST !! MY PHONE IS JUST ONE WEEK OLD 😟

Just comparing my iPhone5 with mums iPhone4S its eating battery quicker (and I have less stuff on in the iPhone5).

Only difference really is Mum is on 6.0.1 and I am on 6.0.2.

annoying; but luckily for me it's manageable as I work from my car so charging during work isn't a biggie.

still needs fixing tho 😟

Solution:

This is what Apple Support told me to do:

  1. Close all of my apps (using the app switcher; double tap home, press and hold an icon, click the red close button)
  2. Go to Settings -> General -> Reset -> Reset All Settings. (Does NOT delete apps or any data; just resets network/iOS settings)
  3. Wait for phone to restart.
  4. Charge it up to 100% and monitor.

I am getting very acceptable battery life from my new iPhone 5 running 6.0.2 - 2 days per charge minimum. The key (as it has been for a few years) is to close inactive applications that use location services. There is a short delay in opening these power hungry apps when you want them, but that is more than compensated for in not having to worry about running out of battery power.

Maps are the worst battery drainers and navigating from place to place will burn power rapidly. I use a car charger during navigation. Some apps have been worse than other - Groupon was bad at first, and Cyclemeter or MapMyRide (fitness apps) will drain the battery even when not active. I leave Safari running full time without problem. Some apps are more efficient than others so I suggest experimenting.

To close applications double click to launch the app switcher, press and hold any application until they all jiggle, then touch the red close button of the apps you don't want running.

Hope this helps!
