Remote Desktop Password

I have ARD 3 and 2 machines with a roaming home. When I open it up on one machine I get Enter the Remote Desktop Password, which doesn't accept the password and I have to click "forgot" and redo my machine passwords. It's then fine on that machine but when I sync the Library folder I get the problem on my other machine. Is the password in ARD 3 somehow unique to the machine?

The Remote Desktop Password is stored in the Keychain. You must be syncing your Keychains.

Assuming that you set the same Remote Desktop password on both machines, I'd think this should work. But it will certainly be confused if you've set different passwords on the two machines.

The passwords are the same. This is an ARD dialog asking for the password. There is a checkbox to store in the keychain which I check. It works on that machine after that, but the password then doesn't work on the other machine. I'm syncing the preferences folder so the ard plist does sync. I set the passwords the same on both machines. But with the plist syncing that shouldn't matter, it should be the same file on both machines. This worked great with ARD2. ARD3 must do something different.

Hmm, I somehow skipped over the fact that you are syncing your library folder. This may be the source of your problem.

When you initially enter the serial number in ARD, it is keyed to the machine that it was installed on. This information is certainly stored in one of ARD's many plist files. Everytime you sync that file down to the other machine, you are probably confusing it.

Any idea which file that is? Is it seperate from the database file (I hope)?

com.apple.RemoteDesktop.plist is the file, and the key is accessCredentials. I'll put in an exception to keep this from syncing, but it's stinks that this doesn't work like it did in ard2.
