Q: Password not recognized starting MacMini

On startup of my MacMini, I get the login window calling for a password under my name. I have tried several passwords, including my Apple password but the window keeps returning wanting a password. What can I do next?

Mac mini, iOS 5.1.1

It turned out to be simple. I hit cnrl R and up popped a small window allowing me to use my Apple user name and password to reset my MacMini password.

But is it not rediculous to have so much trouble using ones own computer!
